Better Late Than Never

Last year, I wrote a few posts about exercise, health and the importance of going to the gym. However, since November there has been something that has caused my silence in this area... I've not had the energy to go to the gym so you could imagine what has happened, I've put on weight, which isn't good. Its been something that I've regretted because going to the gym would have helped me fight the depression I was suffering with during November and December of last year. Then in January, as a New Year's Resolution I decided to do something about this. My dear friend, McKenzie paid for me to join the My Peak Challenge 2017, which is a support system that helps the members reach the goals they've set up for 2017 (for more information, the link is here). There have been some problems with accessing the material and my account but we're working on sorting that out. One of my biggest goals for 2017 is to be able to run in the 15km Rotterdam Bridges Run (the link to that is here, however the website is in Dutch) with my good friend, Theo. Over the last few months, I've struggled completing 5km. So the 15km is a good goal to have and having 303 days to train is plenty long enough for me. This does involve getting fitter and going to the gym more than I have since the New Year began. I went to the gym once in the entire month of January. I had the first week off, but didn't see a point going to the gym because I was going to England for Impact and then I had a week back in Holland before my dad arrived (and I didn't have the time to go to the gym whilst he was here) and I was also sick that week... and I was also not feeling well last week. You're probably wondering why I'm telling you this. Well, yesterday I decided to do something about this. I went to the gym and loved it. I'm going again after lunch and again I'm looking forwards to it. The nice thing about being part of a gym is that its an inside gym so I don't have to worry about exercising in the cold. The other thing is that I need to go regularly to get my money's worth.

Here's to new beginnings and a fitter me!
